Woody Island Ec Tourism Woody Island is located 15 kilometres South-East of Esperance in the Recherche Archipelago (commonly referred to as "The Bay of Isles") and is one of the 105 named islands.

The island itself is a 240 hectare A-Class Nature Reserve vested in the Conservation Commission of Western Australia and managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC).
